Seeing Eye-2-Eye
Posted by cardinal43, 07-20-2008, 08:05 PM cardinal43 is online now

This is my grandson Keegan, seeing eye-2-eye with Nana. He is 22 months old and lives in Olympia, WA. My wife and I spent this past week with him and I took about 800 pics, all in raw. This is the first time I have shot everything in raw, and I have a lot of processing to do -- I think. In looking at them on the computer, I can see that I got really lazy in composing the shot and I think I just had the idea that I would clean everything up later. Not a good thing to do. This was taken with the 18-55mm kit lens, and I spent most of the week wishing I had the FA 50mm f/1.4 or some other faster lens. Keegan didn't always want to stay still long enough for me to take the shot.

Wow! 600 pix, and in RAW. Must have taken up a lot of your harddisk space. Must be difficult to select just the one to post. Great shot..

A precious moment frozen in time - excellent shot. It's what photography is all about for the majority of us

Thanks for the comment. This one is my new screen saver at work. Yep, the raw files took up a lot of space. This was the first time I shot exclusively raw, and was not really prepared for the file size. I was at least smart enough to take my WD passport external drive with me (I usually throw it in my backpack when traveling), and I used my son's laptop to download the files (slow, slow, slow). I took a 2-gb card plus a 4-gb card. Found out the hard way that the K100D won't accept a 4-gb card under version 1.0 firmware. I kept getting a "memory card error" message, and it finally dawned on me that I had never upgraded to version 1.2 and therefore, it wouldn't accept the card. DUH!!!! I won the 4-gb card as a door prize when we did the East Coast Pentaxian get-together, and had never used it. Once I did the upgrade, everything was fine.
