I'm not sure what kinda bird it is, but these were huge. I was exploring a near-deserted part of the base when I saw about 15 of these big birds leave a treetop. I stopped the car under the tree they were perched at, and this bird remained for some reason. I was shooting from inside my car almost completely vertically. DA 55-300 with window serving as monopod

Parked bomber at base outdoor museum. I composed the shot to make it look like it's airborne.

Laying on the ground gave this a nice angle of approach I thought.

This picture not technically the best, but some reason I seriously love it. I think it's the colors and how they play together.

(Nerd Alert) -- For the strangest reason, this makes me want to play a game of Magic the Gathering using a Red/Green deck.

The first bird looks like a vulture of some kind.
Nice shots, thanks for sharing. The third one stands out for me.

Black Vulture (I call them DME's for Dead Meat Eaters). I really like the flowers with the butterfly. Nice perspective.

I really like the flowers and butterfly shot. The vulture is good as well. Big ugly thing.

I see you are leaving the Pentax line now. Any reasons?
