Greenland photos!
Created by Adam, 08-08-2008, 04:35 PM Adam is offline

Since I'm making a one-day stop in Copenhagen on my way back from a weeklong trip to Greeland, I figured I'd use today to upload all of the photos I had processed from the trip and post about them here! I spent all of last week aboard the MS Fram, sailing through Greenlandic icefjords and visiting some local villages and towns. I won't hesitate to say that this has been one of the most magnificent- and unique- places I have ever been to!

As usual, the rest of the gallery, as well as more information about the trip, can be found on my site. Questions and comments welcome! If you'd like any of these photos blown up, printed, and framed, drop me a PM!

Full gallery: Greenland 2008: Exclusive Photos by Adam and Ole Oest

A few of my favorites:

Enjoy!!

I took all of these with the K20D and either the DA* 50-135 or FA* 80-200. The weather sealing sure came in handy when they took us out on the pontoon boats!

Well that was certainly fun! Visiting your gallery that is. I am blown away by the images of the area you visited. They must paint those houses often! Some of my favorites:
IMGP 4570, to my eyes a truly award winning image. Print this one LARGE and hang with pride at the very least. I think you have many images that are extremely marketable in your gallery.

#5022 & 5032, 5215 & 5229, I love the colors and the shadow light play on the ice.

#5126, made me chuckle. You really don't want to know what I conjured up in that ice formation. Again, excellent control of light/exposure on this one.

#5543, is another must print large image for me.
#5723, well all I can say is WHAT A TRIP! As in trippy. Amazing landscape!
And hey, in #5786 and the next one, it looks like you even captured a small avalanche!
Is that an anchor in the yard of #5613?

I love coffee table books. I think you should make a nice book for your trip images. Have you ever had your images printed into a book? This series really begs to be printed in a lot of different forms imho. Your compositions and development on these images is excellent. I can't believe I almost didn't catch this post. That would have been a real loss. I'll have you know that you've entertained both my son and I here for over an hour. Thanks Adam!

I'm very happy to hear you you enjoyed the photos so mcuh! I'll certainly look into piecing together some sort of book, as well as making large prints.

Better keep bumping this post for those who've missed it!

Photo 5613 shows a Greenlandic museum in Sisimiut, and yes, that's an anchor. 5786 was taken at the start of a small avalance (a.k.a. calving), and I even captured the remainder of it using burst mode!

Forgot to mention, Adam. The first picture you posted looks like CGI. The contrast between the sky and the snow/ice is unreal.

Exquisite was the first word I thought of when I saw the first image, and I was right.

EXIF says aprox 1.30 p.m. Is that AZ time or Greenland?

They're wonderful images. The second glacier/iceburg looks like a miniture. And all those colourful houses. Beautiful!

Hope you had an ok stop over in our Copenhagen, though weather isn't the best at the moment.

Adam,

This is a really wonderful series of images. Wonderful light and composition shown across the board.

Did happen to bump into Thomas (Duplo) when you were there did you?

Love the first image and last the most.
