I'd like some opinions from fellow forum members as too which shot I should print (first)
I plan on printing one every month or two, as the prints and customs frames from Imagekind (while very good) arent cheap!
So I have narrowed it down to these four for my first hanging shot.. Which would you choose?
BAD GIRLS
RAYS
CAUGHT
FIRST TO FALL
AT THE GATES
If none of these tickle your fancy see if there are any in This premier flickr set that you would choose! Premier - a set on Flickr
'Rays' is, of course, beautiful, but I think you will have a hard time maintaining the green in the barns in a print, so be on the look out for that. And look to maintain the subtle gold cast in the hay.
'First to fall' is my second choice. Wonderful distribution of reds against dark rocks. And the light is bright without creating excessive contrast. Of course I am not suggesting you planted the leaves (ha ha), just that you made a wise arrangement in the viewfinder.
I think your 'bad girls' would be better with the girls cropped out. It would be a wonderful landscape suitable for the wall. Whereas, with the girls it appears more a snapshot than an image for the wall. IMHO.
'At the gates', though good, strikes me as Ok but not as a wallhanger.
I very much like the concept of 'caught', the leaves caught amid the white streaks representing the water in motion. But you are employing what is called a 'centre of interest' or the 'principle of dominance.' These principles apply both to photography and art in general. In my opinion, there is not enough in this centre of interest to hold your attention, or to warrant a photo on the wall.

Just my thoughts.
JMR
I have to disagree with you on that one JMR. The focal point is well positioned according to the rule of thirds and much of the rest of the picture is the moving water emanating out from the focal point.
Thanks to everyone for their time, input and kind comments!
I think I will probably pring Rays this month than First to Fall for November
Thanks again!
RAYs, from one who decided in a second after scrolling down and not reading the thread; I see after many agree. Tho I know nothing about how things "print". Please do tell how they turn out. Wonder if the "look" translates to print as well.
