Airbus A380 departing a very wet Brisbane
Posted By: nobbsie, 10-10-2008, 10:10 PM

This morning I headed down to the airport to pick my parents up, while waiting for them to get through customs I parked at the viewing area, camera around neck as always. I didn't expect to catch anything too interesting, at least that was the case until I saw Qantas's new A380 rumbling down the taxi-way! It really does pay to be in the right place at the right time.

All shot with the K20D, Sigma 70-200 f/2.8, ISO800 with EDR, Av mode set at f/5.6

That is one mother of a plane. Great shots! I love the last one, where you can see vapor or whatever coming in little streams over the wings.

Excellent shooting, nobbsie.

If I tried doing the same on our airports I'd get shot.

Thanks for the comments everyone, I must admit the A380 didn't do it for me at first but when you see it in the flesh you realise just how impressive it is.

Although I was paying more attention to "getting the shot" I did notice that it seemed much quieter than I expected, very surprising.

I guess we're lucky here in Australia, it's not always assumed that every man with a camera is a terrorist. Providing you stay a reasonable distance from the fence you won't have any hassle.

Yes it's water, it was raining just before we got to the airport. I think it really makes the shot, especially in the fourth one.
