just taking my very limited pp skills in GIMP and messing around with some shots of my daughter taken at the beach... both shots with the FA50mm @ f11 and iso200...

Very nice. Well done, but not overdone. I should know....I'm the king of overdone! she's got beautiful eyes....no PP work needed there at all.

bottom image on left looks slighty red on my monitor, and also where the sky joins the hood and sea has a halo effect, like it was painted blue

Yep, bottom left one looks too red and overprocessed, in my opinion. as well as the haloing issue. Bottom right would be my pick of the bunch.

I was going to say the top two photos look a bit dull and needed some fill light...until I realised the top ones are the originals and the bottom ones are the processed ones...

thanks for the feedback! I had a feeling with the bottom left that I crossed into overprocessed land at some point, but was too lazy to try and go back and start over.. I went for some extra saturation and then forgot to undo it.. I think that's why it's red.. A good exercise though...

Your PP looks very good!

The eyes look great in both shots.
The haloing I wouldn't even have tuned into if no one pointed it out.
The cheeks and chin area (especially in the wider shot) look a touch overexposed, but only very slightly.

Great work!
