These hung around for about 3 weeks before the judges rejected them.
Location: Jasper National Park, Canada. Both pictures taken on Velvia 50 and scanned to jpg at time of developing.
If they rejected the first I cant see why they did for the second as well simply stunning maybe a bit more in PP with levels. Can you resubmit it again for consideration?
I like both images and I probably would have voted yes on both. Perhaps it was the time of day? From my understanding, landscape shots look better if they are taken at the golden hour. This is what I read in photo mags, etc.
Keep on trying. I just had 3 of my images rejected as well.
Thanks everyone for their comments and feedback so far. Much appreciated.
I don't mind rejection too much. My ego has been bruised plenty of times.
I just submitted 2 more images to PPG, but this time I picked photos that show completely different subjects (avians). We'll see if those get rejected or not!
I think both of thoise shots are really good, especially the first one. Unfortunately, landscapes are really overdone.....almost over the top when it comes to processing.
Examples:
I hope you don't mind me playing around with your images in Lightroom (I'll delete them if you like). I just wanted to give an example of what I meant by overdone PP.
As I mentioned in your other PPG thread, you can always take look at the images that are already in the gallery to get an idea of what they're most likely to accept.

Hi maxwell,
No I don't mind what you did at all. The effects you made are quite interesting. I do agree with you that too many landscapes are overdone in PP. The results can be too unnatural.
Incidentally, the images I put up are completely unprocessed. They are pretty close to what I was actually seeing. Both were taken near sunset. I was using Velvia 50 however, which gives pretty saturated images in the first place.
I just love going to Jasper and Banff. I have never failed to get at least one "keeper" photo every trip.

Unfortunately, the unnatural look is what people want to see and buy. BTW, that is some absolutely beautiful scenery. You've captured it beautifully...
Yes, the second one is the more interesting but does need a bit of impact. Still, there is no accounting for PPG. I have sent them some of my veryfavourite images only to have them rejected. Then again they are a bit "off the wall" compared to what people tend to like in their subject, so I'm not surprised.
