Vienna

Hi everyone. Last week we were lucky enough to take a trip to Vienna for a few days. We had a great time, visiting the Christmas Markets, Schonbrunn Palace and the Spanish Riding School. Vienna really is a beautiful city and these pics really don't do it justice (though I had 'sampled' the glühwein several times!)

My first trip since having my K10D so my pictures still have that 'holiday snap' look to them so would really appreciate any comments or tips on how to improve (not that I'm going back to Vienna any time soon ).

First of all the Rathaus (City Hall)

Prince Eugene Statue in front of the Hofburg Palace

The Gloriette at Schonbrunn Palace (The Summer Palace)

Prater

Highly recommend visiting Vienna if you ever get the opportunity.

Thanks for any comments

nice shots woodworm, I'd like to go and see Christmas market in Wiena, I haven't seen it since I was like 13...
And all the beautiful places in central Wiena, on my summer trip, I got around outskirts...
Anyway, my favs #3 (though I'd crop it a bit) and the last one...

Lovely shots

One suggestion - even after the fact, without taking any extra shots, you could try a HDR on the shot of the statue. Did you shoot in RAW? If so, you could create copies at +1 and -1 exposure, and then use something like Photomatix to generate an HDR.

That sky looks like you could end up with a spectacular HDR shot as long as you don't overdo it.

Just a suggestion - hope you don't mind...

I was in Vienna a few years ago, but I got food poisoning (badly!!) and spent the whole 5 days in hospital then the hotel room, recovering just in time to leave. Bummer - I want to go back and see what I missed last time, armed with my K20D.

Hi Derridale, thanks for the reply - of course I don't mind you making suggestions! I will try what you have suggested when I'm back home and post it up.

Sorry you got food poisoning - the same thing happened to me in Cologne 2 years ago and spent the last day of our 4 day trip in bed Not a good way to spend a holiday ...
