Northern Lights & roadsign
Posted by emaruyama, 12-17-2008, 11:06 AM emaruyama is offline

hey folks! how's it going?

I've been using the forum for a while, but haven't really posted any photos... so, decided to post one...

Happy Holidays everybody... hope the "Angels" protect/guide and let us have lots of nice photo opportunities in the upcoming year!

Took this shot last night, by the roadsign with the Northern lights in the background. It was quite cold (-40C windchill, so didn't really want to keep trying different settings...

I've used a fisheye with f/4 and 30s, with an SB26 on manual power (1/32) for the roadsign...

Regards from the north,
Ed

Stunning photo. May I suggest you crop the road out. Or alternately include more of the road. I know it may not be possible because you probably want to include as much sky as possible and still balance the image. I hope one day I can see this beautiful phenomenom. Well done and thanks for posting this image.

Northern Lights & roadsign

hey folks! thanks for all the comments... When I was chimping outside, I didn't realize the road lights were there...

I'd better try it once again when it's not windy.... as it'd be easier to chimp & verify the shots...

Regards,
Ed

That is a great shot Ed, I'll look forward to seeing it redone in more comfortable conditions.

I love seeing the Northern Lights, though I don't get to see them very often here in Maine, I am amazed whenever I am fortunate.

Thanks for sharing & Happy Holidays!!!!
