River is having icy surface
Posted by kurt, 01-01-2009, 05:16 PM kurt is offline

When the sun was getting lower, I found this place where a small tree braked the light to arrays ...

Next day the river was totally covered by ice ... only -15 celsius, waiting to get it lower Not a perfect shot, but a start for a year 2009.

Nice shots Kurt. There is something about low angled light and snow/ice that is quite dramatic. You've captured the feel quite well.

I am the opposite, Kurt, really like your first image best. I love how the light and its aptterns and effects on the ice (landscape) becomes the subject. Wonderful. Did you crop the image?

Thanks (kiitos) Salty! I have to like the low light, that's what we have now ... just kidding!

Thanks a lot! I also like the first one. The snow looks almoust like sand.

I cropped little bit from the left and bottom.

Interesting. You controlled the flare and received just enough light to make the photo work. I asked because I thought you cropped the starburst out.

I took several photos (more than 10) and yes, I wanted the starburst to be there (or I was hoping it ). Because the camera is not showing 100% of the view, you are not always sure what you get in borders. This is maybe one thing which could be fixed in future models of Pentax.

This is new to me. So the LCD does not actually show the full picture?

Nice job Kurt - the sun really adds to #1 and I like the texture of the ice in #2.

Sorry, I was meaning the viewfinder (95%).

Usually I do not look the LCD after shot. If I look, it is mainly to see the histogram.
