Magazine front cover shot.

G'day all,

I cracked the front cover and an inside spread in Soaring Australia magazine. Got the proofs back today. Mate of mine encouraged me to send some of my images in. So for the first time I get to see my photography published!

Low res proof of the cover image, with compression artifacts and all. The high res looks much better. The original is here

Funny thing is I'm not happy enough with the shot, not enough leading space, and some colour control issues. I really did not want to clone some left edge in. Will try for a better shot next time.

This was a deliberate photo shoot to practice shooting Powered Paragliders. Flight coordination was done via UHF. Having your own formation flight that will do almost anything asked of them was great.

Lessons learned: Use the car bonnet (hood) as whiteboard to plan and brief the pilots. Get a finger switch for the radio or grow another hand.

What, no fingerswitch?
You're a pro now anyway, unless they did not pay you anything.

I do envy you for being published with a very simple yet good photo.
I looks effortless and fun and that's the way it probably was.

Greetings from the freezing Europe :-)
