Predawn Autumn Sky in Alberta
Posted by tranq78, 01-14-2009, 01:54 PM tranq78 is offline

Time for another picture. This is what I see from my office window every Fall and Winter.

The top of the sky takes on a gorgeous magenta hue and the area just over the buildings is a fiery orange.

Comments & criticisms always appreciated. Details: MZ-S, FA80-320 @ F8, Provia 400 slide film.

It's a beautiful silhouetted skyline set against a fiery sunrise. Superb!

George,

Beautiful colors, but what are those small round light areas in the foreground (lens flare possibly?)?

Yep, that's right. It was an exposure of several seconds shot from a boardroom window so this sort of thing is to be expected even though I used a lens hood. I know most people would photoshop them out but I kind of like them so after thinking about it for a while, I left them there. We'll see if the judges at PPG like the same thing. I submitted this image yesterday.

Thanks everyone for their comments.

Wow, nice shot. Does that make showing up at the office before dawn easier to put up with?

I hate getting up early. But I forget all that whenever I see the sunrise.

I see some of the most amazing colors & hues from my office window. The lack of atmospheric pollution in this part of the world means no haze and brilliant colors.

The colours are incredible!! Just one thing. If you know the rule of the thirds (is that in english?) the skyline must be higher, on 2/3 level to get a better efect
