I be 1 happy customer of our very own For Sale forums. Got me a nifty fifty from arpaagent which arrived today. Here's some test shots...

A quick test fully open... 35mm f1.4 1/350sec

35mm f4.0 0.3sec

Checking out the bokah... 35mm f1.4 1/350sec

And how it rates for portraits... 35mm f2.4 1/90sec (you can see me in her eye

)

All in all I'm pretty darn happy! What do you think?

yeh... that 35mm thing is very strange. I got that from the Pentax Photo Browser. The lens itself is makred 50mm. I was slightly confussed but put it down to the lens not talking to the camera properly.

If it's a manual lens, then the focal length in the EXIF is whatever you entered for shake reduction (which should be the lens' actual focal length for optimal operation, i.e. 50mm in this case).

That's very interesting. I didn't know you could do that.

How do you set the focal length?

Your camera should ask you for it when you turn it on with a manual lens mounted. You can also set it in one of the settings menu.

I love the first piano shot, and the portrait.

And speaking of the portrait, I have to ask what kind of dog you have. We have a dog that has some similar markings, eye shape, and ears (ours stood up). We got her as a rescue dog, an 8-week old stray, and we only have guesses about her breed mix. I'm adding a couple photos here. The first is the day we got her, dehydrated and half starved. The last is her last week (also shot with a 50 1.4).

If I had to guess on the puppy, I'd say there's some American Pit Bull and some German Shepard mixed in. IT might be easier to tell as she grows though. Both breeds can be very nice, smart dogs, and it sounds like you found this one early enough to raise it as your own.

Oh my lord... how adorable is that?

Jay is full Staffordshire Terrior but I call her 'Supermodel' cause she's very lean compared to her sister (who we train with). She's an EverReady battery on legs (& got into a lot of trouble today for chewing up my flat while I was at work

) Her ears will never stand up

And a year old on a few weeks!

Yeah, I guess they are different breeds. Just a shared light brindle. I don't often see that.

As far as our guess for Edith, we think just what gMatt said: American Pitt bull / Shepard. That's pretty good, gMatt. A lot of people think we're crazy for thinking Shepard because of the short hair, but there are several signs of it (the ears, most notably). People guess all over the map with her. She is a good dog--a domineering little bugger who thinks very, very highly of herself. Far and away the smartest dog I've owned.

I like the DOF studies with piano keys, very nicely composed, the dog image is excellent!
