Simply awesome, a real depth and mystery, as in the best macro photos.

Wow, those are all great, but the first two are amazing! Very well done. How many extension tubes did you use and what size? I would love to see a photo of your equipment and setup.

That first shot of the dew drops on the fly eyes is fantastic!

Ok these are too good

What an amazing introduction to the forum...

With two sets of ext tubes you must be using some interesting lighting technique. Also, please give us the secret to the still bugs with water droplets. Are the bugs chilled in a cooler or are they dead? From my experience, live bugs do not sit around while I spray water on them ...

Please tell us more of you technique on these shots... I have seen few better and would love to get a feel for how you do it...

Again welcome to the forum and thanks for posting these Magnificent Macros

Fantastic images. I really like the newest one in particular, but all are great.

First of all, all bugs on my pictures are NOT dead
Till the end of last season I used internal flash with homemade diffuser (I used up to 2-3 tubes - 31mm and 13mm),
diffuser for internal flash
but now it's not enough light for 2 sets of tubes, so I use external flash Metz 48Af with huge diffuser. I attach this flash to synchro cable. Everything is placed on homemade constrution like this (unfortunatelly I got picture of the first version of it)

Usually I take pictures early in the morning, so insects are calm and it is easy to make a photo.
But if bugs are sprayed with cold water, they freeze for a second, so there is time to take a shot.
