i see NC is having the same "problem", all the dead looking trees don't make for good color scenery shots..
1 - it appears the sign is in focus, not the child..a good shot none-the-less, showing him playing at such a high elevation...
2 - the foreground trees are distracting...
3 - a lower angel on the flag, yet still seeing the lower elevation in the background, just with less foreground distractions would have made for a solid picture..
i'm no expert, but to me, there is too much going on in each...maybe try cropping, and some post production to add some color...good start though, looks like a great place to get some great nature shots

Ahhh, now I'm seeing something. Much better. They're all nice, but I like the second one the best.
I understand the park closes at like 6:00 right now. Can you still get up there if you're camping? Or are you confined to your campsite?

Not sure, we stayed at a hotel in Asheville.
