R.I.P. Rosie

It has been hard to gather up the courage to post a couple of images of one of my horses which passed recently.

We only had our brood mare for a few years (we bought her when she was 4) ... she was not in a good way and picked up further out in the country for a good price. We brought her home and she picked up well and really runed out to be a nice little mare.

We were looking at breeding with her soon since her condition has really come good ... especially with lush paddocks the last couple of years with good rains.

She had unfortunately died from a ruptured bowel ... she had no signs of colic during the day or the previous day. We had gone to the hosptial earlier in the day as my wife and I attended pre-natal classes. We got home to see her in distress. Long story short ... the vet came in the late afternoon and gave us the diagnosis after a fair bit of testing. This sort of thing is not treatable really. If anyone has an idea on equine anatomy, their digestive system is not designed too well.

She passed that evening while the vet was at our place.

We miss her dearly.

Very sad

Hi Simon,
I know how close we can become to our animals and I feel for you. A sad time.

It's hard for me to even look at threads like this knowing I lost my own dog of 15 years 6 weeks ago. Rosie is one of god's most majestic and beautiful creatures and she will be missed by you and your family. My condolences.

Simon,

I am really sorry to hear of the loss of your beautiuful mare, Rosie.

Horses are such beautiful animals.

As a pet owner of many animals over the years, I know how attached we can get to them and they become such a part of the family and as such, they are a great loss when they pass on.

All the best.

Simon, Very sorry to hear of this. Like the rest who have been close to animals. I can understand how tough it is when they leave us.

I feel for you, having lost enough pets in my day too. It is amazing how attached we can get to our animals.

The Love born in the relationship never dies, and the memories are so sweet, tender and precious. Best!
