My pathetic attempt at Macro :P
Posted by GatorPentax, 04-07-2009, 07:54 PM GatorPentax is offline

I say pathetic because its not even with a macro lens. Im using the SMC m 50mm 1.7 thats attached to a vivitar 2x macro teleconverter. Makes all images 1:1 but not exactly the sharpest. Cant afford a real macro lens for now, so this will have to do. Im actually quite impressed with the results but it definitely isnt a Lester Dine!

Nice series like those colors of #1 and #3 and the #2 looks sharp, thanks for sharing.

These aren't bad at all. The third shot appears to have semihard shadows, which seems to suit the blue flowers well. But the other three could use a littlle brightening up. If you carry a white bag or piece of cardboard, you can place it near the flower to direct light back in to the flower. The compositons are not bad, just be mindful of not placing everything in the centre of the frame unless you think it looks better that way.

i have absolutely no idea what i was doing lol. im not exactly sure how to even frame a macro photo. I'll try the white bag/cardboard trick you mentioned next time. Never occurred to me i could even reflect sunlight. thanks for the tips.

Yeah...what he said! Other than that, you've got a good series going. Nice job!

For just an attempt, these are very good. Just a little bit of brightening and they'll be even better.

Really, I think you are underselling yourself a bit. Nothing wrong with those shots. A top effort, stick with it and it will improve even more.
Well done!
