K-7 - Lacock Abbey - High ISO
Posted by Unlocker, 06-16-2009, 03:02 AM

Finally got round to posting some photos from our time at Lacock Abbey on Sunday (as posted here on the UK forum).

Please don't forget that this is still pre-production firmware, so take the high ISO quality with a pinch of salt for the moment, it may change in final firmware, but does give a good impression of what we can expect!

Proper ISO comparisons I will try and do if I get final firmware before having to give the camera back!

1. ISO 800, F6.3, 1/15s

2. ISO 800, F6.3, 1/13s

3. ISO 800, F6.3, 1/15s

4. ISO 3200!, F4, 1/5s

5. ISO 800, F5.6, 1/20s

6. ISO 1600, F5.6, 1/8s

7. ISO 3200, F5.6, 0.3s

Jeezus, that's good for 3200. 100% crops would be appreciated though. Nice photos too!

Small samples I know, but from crashing those pictures in LR the 3200 iso looks better than k20D iso 1600

Oo

Beautiful shots, I am very impressed with results at 3200.
Just wondering, how old is the abbey?. About when was it built??

Thanks for the comments guys!

Abbey was founded in 1232, and was also the site of the 1st known photographic negative in 1835. Very interesting day out!

Just to confirm, as I have been asked.

These shots are as taken, straight out of the camera, highest quality JPEG at the bright setting.

No PP applied apart from resizing for web.

No 1:1 crops or full size photos, unless I get final firmware before camera goes back on Saturday!

In-camera NR turned on or off? Just curious.

given the coloring of the subject matter, picking out chroma noise in pics scaled down that much is nearly impossible.

At least it looks like there isn't horrible banding though.

Look, Unlocker. I know you have the v1.00 firmware now and have absolutely nothing better to do than to take test shots for those of us who don't have a K-7 to play with, so do it already! Looking forward to some full res samples at high ISO. Thanks ahead of time.
