Dramatic Sky
Posted by Eastern Shore Charlie, 06-17-2009, 04:02 PM Eastern Shore Charlie is offline

The weather has been ugly in MD for quite while. One day of sunshine and 5 days of grey skies and rain. Last Tuesday high humidity and a new storm front coming in created some crazy looking sky and weather for about 15 minutes with high winds and low grey clouds. Never seen the clouds like that so low....

Wow-a great shot that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I grew in southern Illinois, where scenes like this one sent folks to the basement.

Very nice shot - the greens are in ironic contrast to the mean-looking gray sky.

ESC great shot! Looks like some sort of still from a thriller or horror flick. And I have to echo Jer about the contrast between the cornfield and that sky.

NaCl(I wouldn't be standing around to get that shot)H2O

Nice shot! I also like the contrast between the gray sky and green fields. I assume that is sweet corn getting ready for our tables?

As a U.S. Army aviator I can tell you that you definitely do not want to be flying there at that time.

thanks...The green cornfield does make it look surreal....I thought the same thing about a basement too bad my little house does not have one.

Since I really did not stick around for very long I did the 5 bracket shots to get various exposures. The toally dark forground was cool, I just thought the lighter forground really showed you just how low those clouds where. I saw lightning maybe about a half minute after this shot and scooted back in the house...like real fast....

Yes, well done, Charlie.
This is one of those classic nature captures that you get one chance at.
You've captured the feel of the weather with this shot.
Thanks for sharing.
