Birds Eye View of the bay
Posted by Eastern Shore Charlie, 06-19-2009, 08:41 PM Eastern Shore Charlie is offline

I saw that Kent Island, MD was going to have a Kent Island day with helicopter rides a couple of weekends ago. I never rode on a helicopter before and I so wanted a different view of the Chesapeake Bay. It was painful waiting in line for 1.5 hours in the sun for a 5 minute flight, but when I saw this shot on my computer it made it all worth while...best 20 bucks I have spent in a while.

Awesome Charlie, was this taken through the glass/plexiglass whatever they use in helicopters?

So what was being in a helicopter like?

The picture was taken on the right passenger side.... no door. I had to wait until the helicopter turned to this view since there was to much reflection in the front cockpit plexiglass. The helicopter ride was really fun in that it was low and slow. For some reason I was not nervous like on a plane. Only problem with the helicopter...the main rotor blades on top are so long they were almost in all the pictures...never thought that would be a problem before I went up...

Well done Charlie! It's not the most beautiful face of the Bay but, sure, you ha to do it ;~) I take it you had a CP on the lens--the sky pops very nicely.

Yep had the CP on...the Bay has many faces...just wanted a different view of the Bay Bridge...

here is the tiny egg beater after getting off it...now that I really look at it it....it was really small...the airfield where we took off is on the left of the photo...

Nice shot ESC, crossed that bridge many many times when my folks retired to St. Leonard (just south of Prince Fredrick). I tried to time my trip so I was crossing the bridge early AM, meant getting up in NYC at 0 dark hundred, but like your wait in line, worth it for the view.
