Hummingbirds - more images with FA* 300/2.8
Posted by Marc Langille, 07-01-2009, 07:26 PM Marc Langille is offline

Another set of images from that overcast, windy day. This time I did some selective exposure tweaks and ran Noise Ninja with Unsharp Mask of 114% @ 0.9 pixels. No cropping in the first image, minimal in the second image. Taken at the MFD of 6 feet. I wanted to have them at the level that I would give to my lab if I would want print them at 16 x 20 or larger.

Taken with K10D + FA* 300/2.8 + Tamron 1.4x AF TC = 420mm. All images at F/6.3, 1/100 sec, ISO 640, AV mode, EV -0.3...

The Sentry:

Photo Dimensions 3872 x 2592

The Stare:

Photo Dimensions 3456 x 2360

I hope you enjoy these images!

Regards,
Marc

About 6 feet in front of my front porch - in my front garden....

Truth be told, we have 20-30 hummers in the front garden on any given evening. Quite the airshow!!!

I use hummingbird feeders to lure them in...

Marc

Great stuff as usual Marc.

I'm feeding every other kind of bird so I might as well hang something out for the hummers. I don't have a 300/2.8 but I'll see what I can do.

Great shots. Very envious of the lens though.

Great captures Marc. Not being at work, I've been missing the hummers.
