Church Steeple getting a facelift
Posted by vievetrick, 07-14-2009, 08:41 PM vievetrick is offline

Here in town the Easthampton Congregational Church steeple & clock are getting a long overdue facelift.

I have to say my first thought was "how do I convince them to let me up in the crane" my second was " I am getting my camera at lunch to try"

Well, the painting guy said no problem when he thought I was from the local paper. The crane guy was not as impressed when I said I do a blog for the local paper. In the end I got a maybe as they will be there all week.

I did get these shots and thought I would share since it has been awhile since I have posted shots.

Shot with the DA 10-17 - The guys in the bucket are held in place with the crane and this guy leads them around with the rope.

SIgma 70-200 - Hand signals are used as well. You can see the old clock needs a clean up.

Sigm 70-200 - This side is looking good now.

comments welcomed and I have not given up on getting a ride in the bucket. It has the view I have wanted to shoot from for years. Maybe my last chance to do it.

Thanks

Cool Pat I like the 70-200 shots - hope you get a close up from up there.

Nice series, Pat - particularly the first one. Reminds me so much of when we lived in MA.

Very nice indeed! Hope you get a ride in the lift but there is probably that liability insurance thing.
