sunset over water

I rented a DA12-24/f4 for a week recently, which I had a lot of fun with.

Here's a sunset at a local pond: (12mm, f8, 1/60, ISO200)

It's a great lens, isn't it.
Nice scene.

Nice shot, great atmosphere! Such a wide-angle is on my whish-list, but I don't know which one I like best...

Beautiful

I borrowed my friend's copy once and fell in love with the 12-24

Certainly a most worthwhile investment

Thanks for sharing

thank you, Rense! Are there places you can rent a lens in your country? Nothing like using a lens to see if it suits you.

Great photo. You should consider Photoshopping the image to remove the partial tree and stones on the right, and the birds in the sky. It will make the image more clean and printworthy. But I like it just as it is.

An aside: is the term 'sunset' correct after the sun has set; isn't dusk or twilight more appropriate?

I REALLY like that the rocks and the birds especially, are there, the tree could possibly go but it all gives the scene depth and interest. Really nice, thanks.

thanks! I appreciate your ideas for editing the image, but I'll probably leave this
one as it is. I framed it to include the rocks, and timed the exposure to get the
birds. The tree came along with the rocks, but I'm willing to live with that.

Somehow I think he is being facetious...

Tim, Nice photo overall and I like the birds! At the risk of a little criticism. I think you should have included a little more of the tree. This is just a purely personal observation but in landscapes I find it best to have any treetops attached to the ground. Including just a sliver of the branches and trunk on the edge of the frame accomplishes this and provides a more pleasing foreground element.

re: "being facetious..." I can be oblivious at times

thanks, Mike, and I like your suggestion re: the tree. Not sure it would have
worked here as the branch was reaching out from behind me, but I will keep it
in mind for next time.
