K10D, Zenitar 16 FE (defished)

My new photoshop book made me want to try doing a "proper" b/w conversion, and not just pressing "desaturate". What do you think?

Lovely peaceful shot, and from one of my favorite lenses. My only criticism is that the sky on the left seems a bit blown out. I think I might like it a bit better if there was a bit less contrast. But I love the highlights in the left foreground amongst the water weeds.

Hm, yes. The sky *is* blown out, perhaps I forgot to push the 'green button' before taking that shot.

The weather was 'interesting' that day, so the light changed from minute to minute. I think we experienced just about all of the four seasons within two hours
Rain, snow, hail, wind and sunshine

IMO the original photo looks better.

To me B&W looks best with a nice blue sky with a few puffy clouds in it

You could also lighten it up a little and it will probably look better (I just tried on your original and it looked better to me )
