Arches, Utah.....[4 IMG]

Well first of all I need to thank all of you for the huge amount of advise i got here before going to the US on my chance trip.

Anyway, things changed quite radically during the planning as Brendan decided to drive in from Baltimore to have some fun in fields.

SO serious shooting got compromised somewhat, but in stead we had a load of fun and managed a few decent images along the way too.
The decent images and pretty standard for a visit there I imagine, will be posted in this post along with a link to some of the more leasurely shots from the trip.

So lets get to it

Skyline Arch (DA21):

Delicate Arch (FA43):

Shot this flower thingy while driving on highway 128 towards Moab with the DA21, really think it handled things quite nicely:

Ohh and a link to the gallery of more leasurely shots:

A few comments on arches it self.
Arches while extremely beautiful, is really more of a family zone than a hiking area, at least judged by what I am used to, huge trails, well marked and with a dificulty level well below expected. so definitely a place where you can bring family around.
I expected at least some areas with unmarked and steep terrain, but we managed to find no such thing, at least where you were allowed to go.
Temperature was perfect, in the +90 degree area and with loads of sun.
That said we had some amazing days there and that is what matters.

so to the people that gave advise, a sincere "thank you" you helped me a lot and to Brendan;
"We got to do this more often, great trip it was "

Thanks for looking

I was wanting to make it down there during last memorial weekend but things didn't work out. I so want to visit the parks in Utah and Arizona. Hopefully one of next years vacations.

BTW, you did an awesome job, I hear the light down there can be amazing.

Ah, Thomas, this is only more incentive to commence my trip out to Utah on Monday, but instead I would leave earlier!!!

Great shots and thank you for sharing! I love the lighting in those first 3 images.

Marc

Gorgeous, just gorgeous. This goes a long way to break my association: "Arches" = "photo inkjet paper"

Thank you Marc,
Always a pleasure to get compliments like this from skilled shooters like you.

I am sure you will come home with some amazing images from that trip, would love to go back soon, but seems I have a couple of trips to complete before heading back for more shooting in Utah.

It's not just that the DA 21 handles things nicely, it's also that you handle the DA 21 nicely!
Well done with these awesome captures.
I particularly like #2 how you inserted the two people to add perspective to the landscape.
Great stuff.

Thank you Ash.
Glad you think that I am able to do the DA21 some justice.

Number two is a classic example of timing and a little luck, glad you like it.

I actually turned out to be quite a fotogenic place even during daytime, but it truly shines during sunrise/sunset or night I think.
