Last images from my K20D...
Posted by er1kksen, 08-30-2009, 09:05 AM er1kksen is offline

While I'm saying goodbye to Pentax (for now), the K20D was a fantastic camera and I feel like I got a lot out of it. These are two of the last images I took with my K20D, while a storm cleared over the ocean during a sunrise, and to me they feel particularly appropriate for a "goodbye." Of course, it's not really goodbye, since I find this place a lot more interesting than the Canon forums I've been to, and there are a lot of great photos posted on here, so I'll stick around. Enjoy!

Both: K20D with 18-55 ii, converted in RAWTherapee. In retrospect both could have been stopped down a little more.

Best of luck in Canon land. Gone full frame I imagine?

No, can't afford full-frame. Got a 40D and 85mm 1.8, basically my ideal portrait setup that doesn't break the bank (if I had the money, it'd be the K-7 and FA*85). I have been thinking about grabbing a secondhand EOS film camera for a song and some sort of decent film scanner though, if I'm ever in the mood.

Well, the K20D + FA77 is just as good as K-7+FA*85 and a lot cheaper. But I suppose there's no point starting that debate if you've moved over.

not to mention the 77mm would be sweat on any Pentax K-mount film camera.
Often found for next to nothing.

I'm a Canon user, with a 40D and 100mm f/2.0, also a Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 in EOS mount and then a wider selection of Tak primes.

You'll dig the 85mm I'm sure, and using Takumar (or K-mount) lenses isn't much different than on a Pentax dSLR since they both need stop-down metering.

Nice shots, btw. Agreed about the stopping down a bit further to retain some more detail in the clouds.

All the best to you Eric.
Don't be a stranger, and when the funds do come rolling through, consider Pentax again!

Oh, I certainly wouldn't disagree with that, and if the 77 weren't as pricey as it is that would be precisely the solution I would have gone with. I just said the K7+Fa*85 would be my ideal solution.
