A day at IKEA (testing the DA15 ltd)
Posted by Douglas_of_Sweden, 09-05-2009, 05:16 AM Douglas_of_Sweden is offline

Was burning a lot of money at IKEA recently (updating the kids furnitures). Took the oportunity to test the DA15 ltd a bit. Street shooting without streets?

High ISO, turned BW in lightroom.

Tired and boored 6 years old daughter.

"Oh no, I don't want to see anything more!"

Thanks IKEA for the lunch restaurant! Kids loading energy in the form of Swedish meatballs.

Some reward for the kids.

Exit just before closing time. Loads of stressed parents and tired kids. Please note the defibrilator on the wall. IKEA always thinks ahead!

Wow! Your IKEA looks just like my IKEA!

Great place to be shooting with the DA 15 ltd.

I've never been in one. Your photos are very interesting, but I'm not sure IKEA is the place for me after this.

Nice examples of the 15mm indoors. I'm surprised Ikea let you shoot that freely though; here, I think they might say something...

I think it is quite universal. Do they serve meatballs with lingonberrier at your IKEA too?

I think the same everytime I've been there.

Maybe this is one difference between IKEA in different places? This is a free country

Great shots, by the way. I'm liking the DA15 more and more.

I have seen people with cameras in IKEA before. They shoot a product or demonstration room for ideas and come back later to purchase.

FWIW, here is a link to the IKEA photo contest (unofficial I would assume) pool on Flickr:

I was thinking the same; the food court shot looks eerily similar to what we have. Guess they build the stores more or less the same...

When are you putting your Japan pics up for viewing?

Also looks almost exactly the same as my local Ikea - all the way over in Australia.

I enjoyed the pics though - good work at presenting what I would normally think of as a boring subject matter.

Nice pictures and a nice study of stressed people.

My daughter doesn't have a car - she lives in a walking city - but she has once or twice rented a CityCar and shopped at IKEA.

She tells a really funny story about returning a double mattress. Of course the plastic compression wrap had been opened, and when folding the mattress into the rented Honda Element it kept popping back out before she could close the hatch.

The IKEA people were cool or she would ahve looked like the people in your post.

Nice, I like the angle of view of the 15 for this sort of thing. I also like the idea of b/w for these.

Someone else beat me to it, but the store does look just like the one here (in my case, San Diego), except for the language on some of the signs.
