Well, after my trip to Arches in Utah, it was great getting back to Greenland.
Not that I did not enjoy the leisurely temperature and pedestrian hiking terrain, but there is something about getting way back out into nature, way off trails and hike for our local peaks.

It took two attempts to reach the peak of Qingaaq a 1616 meter tall mountain. Mow while that may not sound like much, it is worth remembering that where I live, you hike the mountains from sea level to peak, so it really makes for quite a lot of altitude to cover, not to mention a roughly 40 kilometer day hike in off trail terrain.

Now on the last and successful attempt we found out that hiking season is about to end, from roughly 1000 meters and up, we hiked a lot of fresh snow passages and until winter where we have several meters of it, this terrain is a dangerous in between of loose snow on loose rock. with that said, here is a few images from the trip, the K-7 handled the knocks and the freezing temperatures excellently.

Very nice!! Never done much hiking myself and I would be terrified to rely on ropes, but I sure would like to visit Greenland someday, especially after seeing these photos.

Well it is not exactly a hike for those afraid of hights, or perhaps it is just the hike to overcome such fears

Nope I imagine it is a little different from Australia, but again it is pretty much as far from Australia as one can get

Well you do not really rely on the ropes, they are there in case something goes wrong. I prefer a rope over the 1000 meter drop we were facing on the Mountainside where we descended.

Greenland has a lot to offer I think and it does not have to be this kind of hikes to get to it...

Love your shots. Snow and clouds and altitude always leaves me a little breathless.

Never really done any rope work but have done a fair share of 3-5 class scrambling so keep the posts coming.

IT was one of the better hikes this year, unfortunately also one of the last until we have some real snow.
