Caterpillar Set

And an ant.

The first shot, which I think is the best of the set, is at ISO 2260 (ISO 800 set in camera, result was too dark, 1,5 stop added in Lightroom) so it's a bit grainy.

They were all shot using a flash bounced off a cardboard thingy. Lens is a Vivitar 100mm f/2.8 macro. Camera is K20D.

Click them for higher res or flickr page with exif info.

What an ugly/beautiful thing. Grain not bothersome to me. Good job!

You may have even pushed exposure a little too far on a couple of these.
But they're all well done.
4 and 6 are great - and it's only the last image that the noise grain is noticeably apparent.

From the heading I expected big yellow tracked machinery.

Such a strange looking thing. Looks so different to any caterpillar I have ever seen before

Nice shots though, I don't mind the grain either, except perhaps on the last shot. Great detail.

That last shot is ISO 800 and 2.2 stops added in Lightroom which add up to ISO 3600.

When I first got my K20D I complained about high iso performance. I am thoroughly impressed now.
