Outing with the DA 40 pancake
Posted by iceemn360, 09-21-2009, 01:55 AM iceemn360 is offline

I think i've got the LBA bug. I again made a visit to the camera store on spare time and ended up walking out with a lens... this time it was the DA 40 pancake

here are the results from some of my first trials

excellent, sharp wide open, and incredibly fun to use.... probably the best conversation starter this weekend

A very very good lens, wish I had one!

Having photogenic friends doesn't hurt either

Well now, these are just excellent.
Soooo sharp and contrasty.
A very fine lens - I also keep contemplating about getting one.

Great, colorful candids; isn't the lens fantastic?

Really nice series.

I bought this lens two weeks ago, and it literally has not been off my camera since.

Your friends look like models from some hip advertising campaign about cell phones or sporty SUVs.

That's the nice thing about this lens/focal length; put your subject in the middle within the close to middle focus range and it just makes them pop out of the picture.

I think I took all of these photos at F2.8 and I think you are right!. focus on the subject and BAM! sharp image with great separation from the background. might I ad that the AF is a speed deamon. This lens battles my da* 50-135 for favorite portrait lens. The 50-135 is a bit slower to af > thus i missed some candids in the past... not with this lens!

Great shots and nice lens! The only thing I would change is in the last photo have the girl put the plastic toy down before posing for a shot.

put a lil bit of make-up and a nice dress, I wouldn't hesitate to let her do the catwalk.
