It's been a while... some bugs

It's been a while since I posted some images, so why not some bugs?

Fly - Tamron 70-300 + Raynox DCR150

Mosquito Suicide (I Would, Too) - Tamron 70-300

The Crimson King scurries - Tamron 70-300 + Raynox DCR150

The Crimson King in his Lair - Tamron 70-300 + Raynox DCR150

What the He\\ is this?

Well, WOW!
For such a simple setup on a shoestring these are excellent!
Striking detail, excellent choice of composition in #2 and perspective in #4.
Brilliant capture in #5.
Well done overall.

Thats some neat looking stuff! I really like the rich colors and the couple with dark backgrounds especially. Unusual subjects and well composed.

I also use a Raynox-150 with a 55-300mm at times and it sure looks like you know how to get the most out of that combination.

Congrats on a nice series!

Excellent work! Really like no 4. What is a Raynox? An extension tube?

Thank you, Ash. #5 was easy - it was sitting on the inside of my car door, and patiently posed for the shot!

Tim, taff, Dave & Lee - thank you for the kind words. I've had the DCR-150 for almost 3 years now - originally on my old Fuji S6000 superzoom - and lately have been capturing a lot of bugs with it.

JMR - the Raynox DCR-150 is a diopter lens which is used in conjunction with a regular lens to produce closeups & macros. Because of the extremely shallow DOF, it can be frustrating to use at times, but also very satisfying. Considering it costs "only" around $50, IMO it is a relative bargain if you have even a passing interest in macro. There's a thread about the DCR-150 & DCR-250 here: The Raynox Macro club
