Acorn still life
Posted by ChipB, 10-05-2009, 11:01 AM ChipB is offline

I've lived in my current house over 14 years and have never seen so many acorns!! And, when I look up into the Live Oaks around my house and neighbors, they are still full of acorns!! Wow.

Anyway, these had rolled part way down my driveway and got stuck in one of the expansion joints - thought they looked interesting.

Details: K200D, DA 55-300mm, JPG mode, 1/180th sec, f5.8, ISO 400, shot at 300mm at just about the closest focus distance (around 4 1/2 feet), no PP other than to resize for posting.

A full-stretch 55-300 photo.
Sharp, from what I can tell.
Good colour too.
Testament to the capabilities of this telezoom.

Thanks Ash - I'm constantly amazed at just how good this lens is.

When I think of 'still life', I think of good composition, lighting, and well-placed subject matter. This has none of those qualities. A documentary photograph of acorns jammed between concrete (or dun) this is, still life it isn't.

One of the *advantages* of this section is we open ourselves up to everyone who has an opinion - valid or not.
