Nice shots Heinrich, it is getting to be that time of year and I'm not looking forward to it. We only see -10C a few days a year. Be safe and stay warm.

Bright and colourful shot.
I can't imagine how cold that is.
Your K20D seemed to handle the freezing temp OK.

Wonderful shots, Heinrich - particularly the second one. Send a little (but just a little) of that cool air our way; we're supposed to hit 90F tomorrow.

Heinrich you wouldn't know you shot it through the window.I like how sharp your pics came out.It was a smart move to keep inside your warm house and not to test the limits of your K20.Great job!

Thanks John, this cold spell is really early as is the snow. It is still snowing today but the forecast calls for warmer ( +12º C ) weather starting tomorrow.

Take care,

Thank you Barnster. I wasn't worried about the K20D, it can handle it but the 55-300 might be another story...

Take care

Thanks cupic, a couple weeks ago just before the migration started we had flocks of 5 different species numbering in the hundreds in the garden.

Take care,

Hi Dave and thanks, got the snow tires on last week... It's still snowing, after this melts it'll need a few days to dry up before I can put the lawn to bed.

I didn't mind the snow this time of year when we lived in the Yukon, but here....?

Thank you, sort of handheld (elbows on window sill) have a look at the exif, it's intact.

Take care,

Thank you Scott. It doesn't show it on this image but it is actually right in between two trees. Works real good when one shoots from the other side.

Take care,

Nice shots Heinrich, that Magpie is a lot more colourful than the common ones we get in Perth...

As someone who lives in Australia, a northern hemisphere winter and snow is appealing!

Thank you Jason, a magpie just to look at seems to be just black and white (or raven or grackle just black) but on a photo it seems to bring out the color.

Take care,
