2nd attempt at the white balance..

original..
dad, get dressed...

this is what the camera took originally (it still had a custom white balance in-camera, but not as crazy)

these are probably more controlled, i also did some sharpening.

let me know what you think

Yep Goosh - like this one better - looks more natural and the sharpening helped.
Nice one.

Wow, that's a nice job on correcting the WB.

Don't know if you're looking for any other critique, so I'll leave it at that.

the only thing thats pissing me off is that shadow in the background

i dont know how it got there considering the light source was from the right..

I like this WB better Gooshin - but that doesn't mean it's better, just that I have conservative taste when it comes to portraits - I liked the others, but they did really look like they were shot in the Matrix (as someone said). This version looks more like the lighting in an IKEA catalog.

Were you triggering wirelessly?
If so, did you have your pop-up flash/master set to be included in the exposure as per the relevant custom menu item on your cam?
I have it set to no, as I rarely want it to fill from front - and thus cast a shadow...

another light source camera left and high, may be from the ceiling.

it was the 540 bounced straight into the ceiling off camera

actually now that i think about it, if i had the camera tilted to the right the light source would have been right where his head is.. ahh well

This version looks more like the lighting in an IKEA catalog.
EXCELLENT

my job here is done

thats sort of exactly what i was going for, only i couldnt put into words, haha.

this one is definitely better.
I liked this shot in your previous series but I wasn't too crazy about the WB.
But this one is really nice....
you know what though? since I'm really into B&Ws for portraits, I'd really love to see it in B&W, but that's just me.
still nice shot

Looks great to me - both compositionally and in terms of white balance.
