I love the landscapes, but I really can't grasp why everyone's always trying to take pictures of herons. Are they really that special?

JIM. I always enjoy your comments on other people's photos. These photos are the proof in the pudding that you know what you are talking about and can prove it! Thanks for posting these. Also, part of the draw of Great Blue Herons, for me, is they are hard to photograph because they are so darned skittish, which makes for a bigger challenge. Cabellas even sells a GBH decoy to use while duck hunting to prove to the ducks that there are NO humans around.
