From a walk of the Kortright conservation area where they make maple syrup in the spring. Interestingly, there are almost no red colours in this area. The hand on the bench is a self-portrait. What did you expect
Brilliant colours JMR.
I like the conceptual imagery of #2.
Nice ones.
Thanks Ash and Atindra. Can any of you tell me if the images look soft? When downsized for internet, they look sharp. But after posting, they look a little soft.
I see what you mean JMR.
It's been something I've raised before, but I don't know if there's any solution: attaching files to posts, or posting to the forum gallery seems to reduce both the contrast and sharpness of original image files. I'll PM Adam about this as it seems to be a recurring theme.

They are great images no question JMR. I did notice they appear a tad soft, even before I read your post above. Maybe we don't notice it as much since many of your images are given the Orton treatment?

I just don't know Ash. As Marc said, other than deliberately with orton effects, I have never had trouble before with images appearing soft. Perhaps it is a small aperture and diffraction.

Thanks Dave. Of course there a little bit of red somewhere in the area, but as you can see most are yellow-orange.

Yes, I think I will trade a few images for some maple syrup!
Very nice series JMR, like the hand as well. Sugar Maple and no red color, seem weird. As for the softness, how do you resize the images for the web?
I open in Photoshop elements then resize to 900 x 600 pixels sRGB mode. That's it. Thanks for the comments Heinrich.

Marc, I think the only image I manipulated was the third image, wherein I created a second layer to try to increase contrast and separation of leaves and background. I don't recall using gausian blur or an out of focus dupe in this instance. But if I can't fix it, then I suspect diffraction from small aperture. One reason I love my older Nikon zooms and lenses (probably all older makes too) was that I could read the DOF and utilize only the f-stop required. Now I am guessing. Thanks for the comments.
OK, I see a possible reason. It seems some of my height sizes are exceeding the max and the system is resizing on its own. I also notice the system appears to be resizing downward all my photos even if I don't exceed max. So I may have to save at higher quality and then repost. I try not to exceed 350 kbyts as max size with new 900 pixel width. I have jsut resized and reposted as large images. They look somewhat sharper.

Ash, I added a fifth image; a simple pan shot. Of course it is cropped, because, like in your first trials, I overshot the top and produced reams of white sky streaks; not what I wanted. Fortunately, the cropped version is sort of what I was looking for and appears acceptable. Timing and previsualization is the key. The rest is limited only by your creativity, and I see you are getting better and better with your No 2 results.
