Solar eclipse in a bucket of water
Posted By: nirudha, 01-29-2010, 12:00 AM

Taken in Colombo, Sri Lanka on the 15th of Jan 2010. First two shots using the DA55-300 and the rest using an FA50 and cropped!

Using a deep orange filter (software)

+2. A very clever approach to catching an eclipse without frying an eye. Great job.

Thanks everyone.

I forgot about the eclipse and realized it was happening when the light seemed strange outdoors. So I didn't have time to get hold of any filters or work out a projection using a scope of some sort. Hence the reflection on water.

Obviously I had to throw a lot of shots away where the water wasn't still. The flare effect was a pleasant but unexpected result.
