Pentax K10D goes to the races! (American Le Mans)

Went to the American Le Mans Series event at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut (sp?). Had an absolute blast. Got a media/press pass for free and was shooting along side some high rollers (some with a god complex) and ate the catered food in the media tent.

Lots of C*non toters (of course) but i did bump into ONE guy who was shooting with a K10D! We blabbered on to each other and how much we love our K10's. Haha.

All the on-track shots were taken with the DA-50-200 and the paddock images w/ the kit lens. Used a polarizer. When I got home to upload my photos, i noticed my anti-shake was turned off the whole time! Oh well. It was sunny enough for hand-held shooting (I had a monopod but didn't need it).

Whoa! Thanks!! Small world! Were you w/ the media or were you behind the fence ( i was surprised how close the spectators could get and still get a nice shot!).

At another station (before the chicane) some moron was yelling at me, saying "down in front!" even though there was more than one photographer there at that point. I wanted to turn around and ask him if he paid for a media pass (passes are like $250). For the short amount of time I was there (maybe 5-10min max) and a 3 hour race, he could've kept his trap shut. I complied though and kneeled down but as soon as more photographers showed up i stood up like the rest of them. /end rant.

Anyway, it was a blast wasn't it!? I made sure to get myself a pair of Piloti driving shoes that were on sale at the Driving Impressions store, and a cool tee shirt from the AMLS truck. Still thinking about getting a Flying Lizard Porsche tee... they were sweet!

I was behind the fences. I'm a diehard Porsche guy (I have a 72 914). It was great. I'm at Limerock a fair amount, but it was my first pro race. It was great. I can't wait to go back next year.

I'm glad to see their are some other people into motorsports on this board!

Here Here for motorsports! Nice pics skydragoness! I just missed the big races here at Mid-Ohio, but I hope I can get up there sometime and get some good shots too. Keep the car pictures coming!
