This has been posted before, but wondering if there could be more recent info out there with fellow Samsungians! Would really like to purchase a GX20 Battery Grip before the 20 goes out of production. Only place I can find is a Korean shop at 220 USD free shipping. Has anyone purchased from Ebay Seller: bandy1999 ( 963) 99.8% in Gyunggido, Korea, South? A long way from Houston.

Thanks.
As a fellow Houstonian. Maybe posting a thread in the Marketplace "wanted" section might get more views.
If not, just get an ebay one. You can fit a Pentax one on the Samsung, but you have to shave off a bit of plastic with sand paper. I wouldn't degrade the original one. If you want to, go ahead! $220 sounds like a great price though (from what I have been offered in the past). If it was without shipping, it wouldn't be worth it.
I would spend the extra on the genuine one and then when time comes, selling it would be easy. Can't really sell the cheap ebay ones.
Is there anything else that the grip adds besides extra battery life and wi-fi? Also if the battery dies out in the camera itself, the grip battery will take over right? Or would it need battery in the body at all times for the grip to work? Thanks!

The battery option is customizable to where you can select using the battery grip
s batter first and then the camera battery when it runs out, the other way around, or you can use them at the same time (I am not sure about the last one).
I also don't remember the K10D/GX-10 grip giving wifi. I think that is only a Canon option, and that grip costs about $500.
Yes, the Samsung unit from Bandy in S. Korea is the one I referred to. That's the one I ordered. Thanks for the clarity. I didn't know they had wifi. Bob
The GX20 grip doesn't come with the battery required to operate it am I correct?
SLB-1674 is the battery for the GX20 and the grip am I correct? I am looking at a bunch of SLB-1674 batteries on eBay for really cheap. Anybody tried these out yet? I am wondering if it's as reliable as the genuine Samsung SLB-1674. If you guys are using a third party SLB-1674 battery for your GX20 or battery grip, can you tell me which one you're using and if it's reliable?
Also does the K20D use the same type? Can I buy the K20D version and use it on the GX20 and it's grip?
The genuine Samsung SLB-1674 one goes for 75 bucks on Amazon which is way too expensive for a battery.
EDIT: Also will higher MAH be more prone to damaging the camera? Or can I use 2000 MAH although the OEM Samsung battery is 1650 MAH? I was looking at this one right here and I wonder how well it will work. http://www.amazon.com/KINAMAX-BTR-NP...2383044&sr=1-2 Also what if it has lower MAH? Such as 1500 MAH.
LeDave, I have used these 3rd Party batteries before with no problem. The MAH refers more to the amounts of charge or powerlife the battery has when it is fully charged and the higher the MAH, the longer it will provide power before needing recharge. It is not a measure of the voltage or amperage delivered to the camera electronics. The power delivered to the camera on the Kinamax above is 7.4 volts which is the same as the Samsung genuine replacement battery. Just keep in mind that users of 3rd party parts do so at their own risk as Pentax and Sumsung only warrant their own branded products - not the 3rd party product. Trust this is helpful.
The grip in that photo sure isn't a Samsung original. Cool Wi-Fi feature though.
The genuine grip has the AE-L and exposure markings near the buttons and no Wi-Fi. Also you can't use it with alkaline batteries like other grips.
I have a 3rd party battery too and there's no difference. But I've only had it for 3 months so it would be useful to hear an opinion from someone who used one for more than an year.
The grip may be a prototype; I believe it was at the Samsung stand at 2008 PMA--it really looks just like an unmarked Samsung grip. Of course it could also be a knockoff.
I haven't tried one yet but I wonder what this can do that an Eye-Fi SD card can't? Would this provide wireless 'tethered' shooting or live view? Eye-Fi is more about easily transmitting pictures to your computer or websites.
Fellow Samsungians, just want to confirm that the grip I ordered from the S. Korean Seller on Ebay - Bandy1999- has arrived in good order and it is a brand new genuine Samsung Grip for the GX20. (Confirm there is no WiFi on this unit though). Seller provided excellent service at $219.95 delivered to the U.S. registered parcel with tracking number. Took only 12 days for it to come from S.K. to Houston. So if you want one, go for it.
