They're definitely nice shots, I like the bokeh and the subject is just great (I love cars). But now I feel like seeing the rest of the car, maybe a frontal picture would be nice. Also, I think you should have stepped back, zoomed out a little, letting us see the whole machine. Brighter colors would be nice too. But anyway, they look pretty good.

Took this pic inside the storage area of a museum -- it was a rather small room, with no sources of natural light whatsoever, filled with old artifacts waiting to be categorized. I used my old SPII again, with a 200 asa Colorplus film, at the lens' largest aperture. I didn't expect it to look good, since I have never tried interior photography in these conditions before. But it ended up looking pretty well, even with this greenish tone due to the film.

When spring meets modern technology. Taken with a Kodak Colorplus film, 200 ASA.

Picture taken at home, it's the front gate. It was about 5:00 pm and I used a Kodak Colorplus, 200 asa, at 1/200. Can't remember the aperture right now (I forgot to take note). I really love this one, but I'd like other opinions.

Taking pictures indoors and/or at night without flash

rbefly, I studied the sunny 16 rule just before I started shooting, so I'm already a little familiar with it (though I still couldn't see the results, I'll be developing the film soon).

TomB_tx I'm using a Kodak Colorplus 200 film, since it's the only readly available in my city. I guess it will work fine for general outdoor shooting, but indoors... I really don't know what to expect. It's the first roll to go inside my Pentax for many years and I'm trying out all kinds of rules and ideas I read from you guys here on Pentax Forums. I still got 5 or 6 expositions (the film has 36) and I'll develop and see the results. I'll post them here if I can, and probably ask more questions, haha.

Anyway, thank all of you for the help.

Well, currently I'm using ISO 200 film with my SPII, but I coudn't find a battery for it's light meter (and I'm not really sure it still works, though the rest of the camera is working and in good condition). Anyway, I'll be stuck in fully manual operations for a while and I have many doubts, specially about exposure. I live in a very sunny place, so I started learning how to shoot during the day first. But yesterday I had to take a pic inside a museum, with that pale light all over (the room wasn't dark at all, by the way, lamps were everywhere), so I just opened the lens to 1.4, kept the speed at 250 and gave it a try. Still waiting for the results. Meanwhile, I'm just asking for some advice to know if I won't be disappointed. =)

I've been wondering about how to take pictures at night or indoors, under artificial light, without using a flash. What should I do? The way I understand, I should set the lens to maximum aperture, to capture more light. Am I right?

Cheers.

Questions about temperature, weather and conservation

Even beginners like me know cameras are, like my SPII's manual says, "an instrument of precision" and must be conditioned as such. But I'd like to learn more about the correct ways to protect my camera from harsh weather conditions and stuff like that.

So, first, what should I do in very hot weather? And cold? What's the worst for cameras, lenses and equipment in general?

Today I was in a very cold room inside a museum and then I went outside to take some pictures. I took the SP out without even thinking about the fact that it was very hot outside, the lenses had condensation all over them. How harmful was that?

Thank you for your attention.

Thanks a lot guys, specially for the link about batteries, really useful. The books too, I'll look up for them, they seem interesting. If you could give me more information about SP II's I'd really appreciate. Specially from people who already used these model and could give me some hints.

Pentax SP II - Help with some issues

So, it's my first real thread here after introducing myself. I have some questions and I'd like to get some help with my camera too. The thing is, I have an SP II and the 50mm takumar lens were dirty with mold. Besides that, some mecanisms weren't working well (the curtain wouldn't open sometimes at certain shutter speeds - 125, 250 - or would open but remain that way). Anyway, it all seems to be fixed now except some details... so my questions are:

- Even after getting the main problems fixed, the timer still doesn't seem to work. The small lever is kind of loose. I bring it down and press the little button, as the manual says, but nothing happens. Should I insist and try to fix that?

- The light meter is not working. The guy who fixed my camera couldn't find a battery and he told me I could search the local stores for an equivalent silver oxyde one, but I don't seem to find it. So, I'm taking pictures only with my good sense and the old sunny 16 rule. So, I'd really appreciate some hints on that matter, specially because I'm not sure if the light meter will work even if I find a battery, so I might be stuck in full manual operations for a while.

- Finally, any hints, articles and ideas for a new photographer will be welcome.

Thank you for your support.

So, I've just found this forum and I already like it. Been reading some threads and it seems a pretty nice community. About me, I have this Spotmatic II that belonged to my dad and now I'm taking care of it for him. I spent some money getting it fixed and now it seems to work properly (it was all dirty with mold and the shutter had some issues). It's my first camera and I'm still learning the basics of protography, though I always loved it, but never had the guts to learn stuff properly. So, I hope I find some good information here and get answers to some of my questions. :)
