supported browser versions?

Hey there-

I was on and everything was working last night when the site went down for the upgrade. This evening on the same computer I couldn't log on. Well, I ended up sort of half logged on - the list of who's on showed me there, but I couldn't post. Tried various things, but always the same result. Tried a less archaic computer and everything works fine, so I'm guessing it was an incompatible browser. What browsers are supported? I think maybe that other computer is now a very expensive door stop...

All currently practically all browsers are supported, but you must have cookies enabled (for login).

Javascript-compatibility is also recommended, but not required- it's what powers the drop-down menus.

Is that new since the upgrade the other day? I was able to log in and post messages the day before, and I certainly didn't disable cookies. But I will check!

Hmm- as far as I know, vBulletin doesn't have login bugs in either version...they are know for writing the most powerful and most stable forum software.

I'll have a look if you're still having trouble- however. I've found that if you log in on the homepage, there may be some problems, but not if you log in in the actual forum.

Remember never to remove/add the www. to the domain while you're loggen in, too. For example, if you log in at http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/ , you wouldn't be logged in on http://pentaxforums.com/forums/ .

I was having the exact same problem last night - log in, get welcome screen, redirects, shows me as logged on, but can' post.

Today, same computer, nothing changed - I'm posting (I think).

What browser do you use?

I can confirm that there are no bugs when logging into the forum via Safari, FF 1.5, and IE 6. The homepage problems are also fixed now

Well, you managed to post this time around, maybe it was a passing problem. I'll have to try again when I get back to the computer I was having trouble with in a week or so.

It's running Mac OS 8.6 (I think) and whatever version of Explorer is supported by that OS. I'd upgrade to the most recent Firefox (I use that on my laptop) only then I'd need to upgrade my OS, for which I need waaaay more RAM, but it's a six year old computer, i.e. not exactly fast, so I'm not keen to spend all that money on RAM... you get the picture. Like I said, it's turning into a rather expensive doorstop!

There are no bugs in IE 6- the error should never pop up.

As for Mac IE- it is very, very, very outdated. The forum will work on it, but ajax and javascript features will be disabled. When using Mac IE, always check the "remember me" box.

I recommed using safari if you don't want to go to Firefox, however.

Don't I know it! I should just get rid of the stupid thing, I have another waaaay faster computer. I thought it'd be handy having one in each location, but there are so many problems with the old one...

I'd like to use Firefox, it's what I use on my laptop, but it won't work with the old Mac OS. And I'm not upgrading that, 'cause I need more memory... etc. Man I hate the way computers become obsolete almost the day you buy them! What do you do with a six year old computer?

Sorry, drifting off topic - I will try again, clicking "remember me", but if it doesn't work, that old thing's a boat anchor!
