Arrow A Pentax Survey

Hi guys,

I've created a small poll (see above) to help me expand/modify site sections in the future to fit your needs.

Please check all boxes that apply- this will help me quite a bit. Also, for your privacy, individual results will not be shown publically.

Thanks for your help!

I have voted/noted the type of Pentax camera I use. But I don't see any other survey. Hope that is all you were requesting.

The poll is all there's to it. Nice and short, right?

Suggestions

My biggest complaint has been illustrated by this request. What survey? I go to the link it says in the email, and it is something different. I was expecting an easy to fill out survey, and like one or two of the posts, they are experiencing the same thing. It is exactly why I do not use this forum. It is nearly impossible to navigate. For example, I tried to post a photo on one of the monthly contests, and it was nearly impossible to know how to do it. This site needs severe simplifying. DP Review, and Steve's, at least, are able to follow threads, rather than the multi-multi multi layers that this site seems to have. Sorry, I would like to visit and participate, but it is so frustrating that it takes the fun out of visiting forums. I will remain a member, but will not really access the site until it has been re-structured.

I'm sorry to hear that

vBulletin is the internet's leading forum software in terms of both features and ease of use, but I suppose some may think otherwise. IMO, it couldn't be better.

The survey is simply the above poll- there's nothing else to it.

If you have any questions about site useage, feel free to send me a PM (Private Message) and I'll help you to the best of my ability. vB is a lot different than DPR's software, but after a bit of exploring, I hope you'll find it much easier to use.

Thanks,
Adam

I don't know what went wrong there, but I was able to see the survey and vote easily. Maybe the link in your email was broken? (sometimes long urls are divided into two lines and depending on the browser/email client/email service provider you might get an invalid, incomplete link.

Perhaps you're not as used to this bulletin system as others? As Adam said, this kind of forums are being used everywhere on the 'net and at least I don't find a problem with them. YMMV coz I'm a PC junkie (your mileage may vary)

I initially could not see the poll checklist, only the results, even after I logged into the forum, until I sent a reply complaining and then the poll select list appeared (I then deleted my complaint post). I am using Opera browser. Perhaps this forum software has a few issues with Opera. Im not sure. As for the path necessary to post photos for the contests, I agree it seems a bit convoluted and is not at all intuitive. Overall though a fine job has been done on this forum. Its just a suggestion.

None of the time...

I've heard that you can please some of the people all of the time, all of the people some of the time....and maybe Pentax people none of the time??
This site is fine, a little difficult to navigate until you get used to it, but what site isn't? I heard of a guy the other day that cancelled his K10D order because the IQ was too realistic. Go figure!! Keep up the good work here.

I found this forum simple to use and well organised.

Posting images might have been a bit difficult at start but this is like everything in life - you gonna start somewhere and life is not meant to be easy. There is always a bit of learning to do.

Mo, this is a great website and I also work in service industry. There will be always people wanting different things and never getting satisfied. There are all kinds of people in the world and that is all to it.

This forum is personal, friendly, systemised and sophisticated with good intention to serve pentax gear users.

Everything worked fine for me. I clicked on the link in the email, saw this thread with the poll and voted. I find this type of forum structure very easy to use. Thanks for the great forum Mo.

The only thing this forum could use is a quicker "My Threads" type of thing..

There *is* one, but it's buried under "Quick Links" and you have to click on "My Profile" and then find the options.. involving.

But hey.. at least there's the option right? (Although I still would love to see a "My threads" thing as one of the options either right *in* Quick Links, or in that blue bar *with* Quick Links)

DP review easy to use?
I disagree. DP review"s forum is a big mess!
All subject matters are mixed up. There are duplications of same subject threads, you can't always find what you are looking for or it can take a hell of a time.
It's untidy, messy, but of course interesting so we have to live with it. But there are a lot of waste of space subjects.
Some people might think this place a little serious, but it is much better organized than DPR. Time to go fishing ;-)

I agree that dpreview's forum structure is messy, antiquated and not user-friendly. Updating it will involve a lot of restructuring of the web site. Given the success of dpreview Im not sure if Phil Askey wants to mess with it yet. PentaxForums is superior in its organization and is relatively user friendly.
However since this is a new forum Im sure that there are a few areas where constructive suggestions may be helpful, as in all areas of life. They certainly dont detract from the success or achievements of this forum.

Not sure if NZHut will be back but in case...

I am one of the biggest complainers on earth and I find very very little to complain about in using this forum. I would suggest NZ changes the view mode.
