Adam, I noted that the times of my postings this evening were an hour late, i.e., a 12:30 AM post was being shown as an 11:30 PM post. My time zone shows correctly at the bottom of the page (GMT-8), so I'm wondering if the server has somehow reset for standard, instead of daylight savings, time.

The server timezone should be independent of that on the forum- if you'd like to adjust DST on your account, simply visit your User CP and select the appropriate option from this page: http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/p...do=editoptions
Thanks, Adam. I had selected auto-detection of DST in my options, but that didn't do the job, apparently. I've manually set DST to always on; just one more "clock" to turn back in the fall, I guess!

Christine..
I had to do the same thing (change my setting). So now when I am signed in the time shows correctly. but when I am just lurking or checking something real quick and don't sign in the site is still off an hour..
Or who knows.. maybe Im off the hour.. lol (shrugs shoulders)

perhaps it's because of the change in when DST happened, this year? i changed mine to be accurate about 3 weeks ago.. now it's an hour off again..
If you are using Windows, there should be a daylight savings patch for your system to account for the new and improved confusion.

Nah, Albert... I've been a Mac girl since 1985. Our systems automatically update to the DST/ST switchovers via WWW atomic clock feeds. So, my system has got it, but our PF server apparently hasn't heard the word. Dang newfangled modern world!

You already got DST? We don't over here in Europe. Maybe, the server switches accounts to DST at a later date?
The eminent Mr. G. W. Bush decided to make Daylight Savings start earlier and end later. Canada also switched, as we are "a mouse in bed with an elephant" on this continent.

In this particular case, not such a bad thing as you are higher up in the north
I actually believe that the whole world should switch to universal time.
If all the employees of a company want more evening time, change the working hours. Back in my relative youth, I was in one place that doubled it: DST and an hour earlier start to the workday, with 1/2 hour lunch instead of a full hour.
Just an old curmudgeon's opinion.

Well depending on where the server is located you might have something there Falconeye.. If Europe doesn't switch then the server wont either...
I just changed my manual setting so when I log in, it shows the right time.

I looked up where the server is physically located at, it is "Dallas Datacenter", TX, USA.
The vB software however is programmed in the UK and those guys will be glad to ignore Mr. Bush's decisions, I am sure
Well Hell Falconeye... no wonder the time is confused... one part says one time.. (usa) and the other part says another (UK)... my heads gettin dizzy with all of these.. lol

<snip>
Truth be told, all Windows systems based on the NT Kernel architecture use GMT as their time. The time zone is a filter so us poor humans can make sense of it. I would imagine that he server farm in TX is getting its base time from either a feed from the NIST time standard or a GPS system.
