Problem with "Threaded Mode"

Here is one thread I am experiencing the problem I have described earlier in another thread when I use Display Mode set to "Threaded Mode":

Birds by DA55-300mm

Now, here is what is happening: under the post by 'cupic' (subject "There fabulous.Looking back..."), there is a link "More replies below current depth...".

When I click on the "More replies below current depth..." link the message view simply resets to the original post and the tree does NOT expand. The same happens if I hit "Next" to see the next message from cupic's message. The behavior is identical with all skins.

In Linear Mode I can see all posts no problem.

The same behavior is with both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer.

However, if I log out and then navigate to the same thread it DOES work just fine!

Can anyone else reproduce this?

That's really puzzling. I checked out that thread and was able to view the entire tree for that thread after clicking the link below cupic's post.

IMO though, linear mode = web 2.0, and threaded mode = the 90's I'm sticking to linear mode personally, but the other options are there for those who'd still like to bother with them.

One possible cause for the problem can be a javascript or AJAX conflict. Is javascript enabled in your browser(s)?

Yes it is enabled in "Options" -> "Content" in Firefox.
(Besides, DOF calculator on Online Depth of Field Calculator is JS-based and it works! LOL!)

And just to clarify: most threads with large number of messages and several "More replies below current depth..." links work just fine, no problems at all. But occasionally there is a problem.

I'll double-check to see if there aren't any faults in the system, though I do doubt it.

Thank you.

I just found one example of another glitch I have mentioned - completely empty thread browser frame:

DA* 16-50 and 50-135

In linear mode I see all messages (3 at this point). In threaded mode I see the first message, however the thread browser is empty:

Name: pfexample.jpg
Views: 61
Size: 46.9 KB

IE reports "Done, but with errors on page." There are two errors:

Line: 758
Char: 2949
Error: Expected ';'

and

Line: 12
Char: 1478
Error: 'curpostid' is undefined

That may indicates a problem with the script.

EDIT: For this test I have cleared all private data in IE, closed IE, started IE and pasted link to the problematic thread. So this problem should be visible to all.

I see the error on that one- looks like it may be something vBSEO is causing. A new version of that is just around the corner though, so we'll have to wait and see if that fixes it.

Hybrid mode seems to work, strangely enough...

OK, so I am not imagining anything.

The other problem with threads "rewinding" to the first post after clicking on "More replies below current depth..." link also seems to be gone in the hybrid mode, although there are no errors on the page for that one. Perhaps it is the same root cause as with empty thread browser an may be resolved with an update.

I'll stick to the hybrid mode for now, thanks for pointing that out.

Since hybrid mode shows a certain number of posts in a linear fashion, the depth link shouldn't be required. If you click on the deepest reply, the remaining posts below it should be displayed.
