[SOLD] Sigma EX 2x Apo Tele Converter

Hello all,

I am selling my Sigma EX 2x Apo Tele Converter. It's in excellent state and comes in its original box and pouch, and with the original front and rear caps. Glass is without any blemishes and the mechanism works like new.

This teleconverter is designed to be used with Sigma's excellent EX series of lenses (see the official compatibility list), but it also works with other lenses provided the rear element doesn't extend too far into the camera body. I have tested and used it with my Pentax FA*300/4.5 and confirm it works perfectly with that lens at least (though AF needs bright light to work at f/4.5, no problem whatsoever on a f/2.8 lens though).

I am selling it because I sold my Sigma EX 70-200/2.8 lens, which was the lens I used it most with. On the FA*300/4.5 I still have I prefer to use my Tamron 1.4x TC as this gives me a more convenient field-of-view (with the 2x it's too narrow for my use), same for the DA*60-250/4 which I'm planning to get once it's available.

My reviewed asking price for it is EUR 125, not including shipping costs. I prefer to sell within the European Union with payment through bank transfer (using IBAN/BIC codes). However, Paypall is possible too as an alternative for buyers outside the EU.

I'm hoping to find a good home for it!

Wim

Seriously, very decent price for such a good TC.

LOL Frank!

Well, I'm not going to let it come down rock bottom of course. There is a minimum... If it doesn't sell for that amount, I'll just put it back on the shelve and wait for the new Sigma's to arrive. It should get more attention then...

But I'll let it drop a bit further today too. EUR 145 --> EUR 135.

One final price drop. EUR 135 --> EUR 125.

Anyway, if it doesn't sell at this price, I'll close this sale and try elsewhere or perhaps just keep it a while until the market might have some renewed interest in it. It's not going for less...

Wow, I almost bought it. Almost.

Too bad the compatibility list you refer to does not mention my Sigma 105mm/2.8 macro lens. I would have loved to put those together, but now I am afraid this won't work.

However, if it will, I'll take the tc out of your hands. Anyone here able to confirm/deny?

I googled around and I fear the 105/2.8 macro's rear element is not deep enough in the lens for the TC to be able to connect properly. You risk damaging both the front element of the converter and the rear element of the lens when you mount it. Hard to understand why Sigma designed them this way, because on a macro lens a TC can be very practical indeed.

If you want a TC for your macro, the Tamron 1.4x is probably your safest guess. I use this on my Tamron SP90/2.8 macro with great results. I haven't encountered any lens that could not mount on it, so I imagine the Sigma 105/2.8 not to be an exception.

Shame you cannot buy my TC, but I'm not going to sell you a piece of equipment that I know won't work for you.

Bumping it one more time, since I recently found out that both the DA*200 and the DA*300 will fit this converter. I mounted it on both personally (under supervision of a Pentax rep) though I haven't tested the AF because the store I tried them in was too dim, but esp with f/2.8 on the DA*200 this shouldn't be a problem.

Should some be hesitating to purchase my TC for either of these lenses, rest assured, mounting the converter will double your focal length and won't damage your lens.

The converter will mount to a DA* 300 F4, but the autofocus will not work.

Thanks for you additional info. Are you sure the DA*300 won't focus. I know the f/4 becomes f/8 because of the converter and that's one stop over the AF limit of f/5.6. But my FA*300 (that I'm selling here: http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/p...tml#post288013) is even slightly slower and in really bright light it does focus with the converter. I wonder, does it revert to body-driven AF because the converter doesn't have the powerzoom contacts and the lens does have the AF shaft, or does the body recognize a SDM lens nevertheless and thus cannot focus?
