[SOLD] Cosmicar-A 70-200mm f/4 by Pentax

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
Cosmicar-A 70-200mm f/4 by Pentax

Item Description
Cosmicar was a subsidiary of Pentax (and in fact, still is) manufacturing a small selection of lenses in Japan under this brand name. This particular zoom was also marketed as a Pentax lens at some point, although it is slightly different from the Pentax-A 70-210mm f/4. The Cosmicar 70-200mm f/4 is a metal, single action zoom with multi-coated optics that performs surprisingly well on my K10D. It is an 'A' lens, which allows the usage of all shooting programs. You can read up the technical specifications on Bojidar Dimitrov's Pentax page here.

The lens is in extremely good condition externally, with no fungus internally. Glass is scratch-free. There is some dust inside, which is expected in this type of zoom (and given its age) but it didn't affect the pictures I took (dust never does). The diaphragm is snappy and responsive, and should provide a nice bokeh with its 8 blades. Aperture ring clicks normally and stays in 'A' without issue. The focus/zoom ring is maybe a bit overdampened, but I think this depends on your taste (I like 'em butter smooth ). There is a pull-out shade that stays in the in or out position without rattling. This zoom has a useful macro focusing feature at 70mm which is quite usable. Filter size is 58mm.

Comes with both caps, and I should have a leatherette pouch for it somewhere.

Check out the pictures and see what you think of it.

Some shots taken with this lens on a K10D. They're all handheld, converted from RAW.

Bumpety bump!

What's wrong? Is it too expensive...? Let me know! But say something, please...the crickets are deafening me.

I just realised I never indicated what the macro capabilites of the lens were. I just measured it and it's about 1:3.7. Not bad...

I can't believe no one has grabbed this lens... I would if i didn't have one. It is the same lens as the Pentax version.
I'm sure someone will wise up this week when they get to work and see this.

Very surprised it's still here at this price. I've owned a few Comicars and they can match their Pentax counterparts. These are MC lenses that are just relabeled.
