[SOLD] SIGMA 180mm Macro F5.6

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
SIGMA 180mm Macro F5.6

Asking Price
200.00

Item Description
Just thinning out the lens collection and selling the ones I haven't used in a long time.

SIGMA 180mm Macro F5.6 Manual Focus Lens for Pentax K/A mount. Lens is in excellent to near mint condition. A few little marks around the edges - you really have to look for them. There are a few little rub marks on the lens hood. That's it. I'd say it is probably a 9 out of 10.

The aperture, coating, and glass are in perfect condition.
The lens is a 1:2 Macro but will go 1:1 with Vivitar Macro Focusing Converter (I have tested that).

The lens comes with original box, case and manual

Wow - not a single response, not even a lowball offer. I guess everybody already has a 180mm macro in their lineup. Can't be the price - the only one I found on FeeBay that is cheaper, is for a (today unusable) Canon FD mount...

I almost pulled the trigger on it, esp for that price but even thought the newer one is about 3x as much I want the 1:1 and AF as well. I can use my DA*200mm in the interim.

This is a pretty rare lens and the last of Sigma's range of manual focus lenses. Got the 90mm f/2.8 Macro version (also goes to 1:2) which is excellent.

I guess perhaps the relatively slow max aperture might be a concern focusing wise.

Perhaps if you consider opening up to would be buyers outside the US you might get a better response.

I think that's a good price, and a macro without AF is not an issue.

Two questions

Did you find the f5.6 makes this lens a bit dark? Is this one of their APO lenses?

Yes it is an APO lens. The lens is darker than an 2.8 lens, but I cannot tell much of a difference at all between my 16-45mm which is f4. I would consider this lens a classic Bug lens, which you would use in relatively good lighting situations. Just took a couple of test shots and I don't think it's dark at all.

Cancelled

After going through my current lens line-up I have decided to cancel that sale and keep the lens. At least for right now.
