Item Description
My local photo store went out of business a few weeks ago, and I was ecstatic to snap up this lens new in the box, with 1:1 adapter also new in the box. I brought it home, took a few (<20) test snaps without even getting the adapter out, and LOVED IT. It was a total splurge, much more than I usually spend on lenses ($20-30 is usually my limit :-), but totally felt worth it. It is so sharp, its colors are so clear, it is compact and yet has decent reach, not too long but decent working distance. A great lens, I can see why it is famous. Unfortunately it then started snowing and I started shoveling and I haven't had a chance to use it since.

Then in the last week I picked up a Tokina macro lens in much worse external shape but with image quality that's basically the same. It doesn't rain, but it pours, right? So I figure this kit would make a great Christmas present for some Pentaxian interested in getting into macro. It's essentially new, looks pristine, and works like a charm. To tell the truth I haven't even tried the 1:1 adapter, but I will guarantee that it will work - it's new! Or I can run a test shot if you prefer.

The Adaptall mount is PK, not PKA, and that is definitely used but works well. The lens supports Av, Tv and Program modes with a PKA adapter so you could get one if that is important to you. the plus side to the PK adapter is it will go down to an aperture of 32, while the PKA is limited to 22. For macro, you ned a lot of DOF, so it does come in handy.

Also included are the boxes (which are beat up, I think they were in that shop a while) and all original literature. I don't think Tamron would honor the warranty card, but you could try! There is a sweet lens case, the hood, front lens cap and a clear rear cap for the Adaptall end of the lens. (This doesn't match the one on the 1:1 adapter, so I may have mixed it up with another Tamron lens that I bought at the same time, but it is also new, works just the same and isn't beat up at all). I even have an original rear cap for the mount.

I can't get my pictures on Flick'r to appear here, so here is a link to the set of this lens, and a few test shots. I can email you larger ones if you prefer, especially to see the details in the test shots. I welcome questions, and will guarantee the above description. If you find the lens other than as described I will happily refund your purchase price. Thanks for looking!

I'm surprised nobody's snatched this out of your hands ... it's a beautiful lens, if I hadn't just bought one a month ago I'd be all over it. (And I still might -- this is in much better condition than the one I have, and I don't have the 1:1 extender.)

I have both the 52B and the 52BB with extender and actually like the 52BB better.

Thanks guys! It is a lovely lens, hard to let go. But my wife is on me to reduce redundancies. And it is so shiny new, it made me a little nervous to use - didn't want to give it its first scratch! I'll let someone else have that pleasure. :-)

Hi John -

This lens will do the "A" setting but you need a PKA mount. The one I have for sale here is just PK,which means the top setting gets you F/32, not "A". I bought a PKA mount for about $90 and was going to hang on to it for use with other lenses, but I suppose I could swap it in place of the PK mount for $75 more. Or I have a M42 adapter you could have in place of the PK one, that would knock $5 off the price.

For that matter, if someone wants just the lens and extension tube, they can have it for $199 plus shipping. Or if someone wants just the PK mount - $20. Although I would rather ship a lucky someone a big box of all the lens goodness. :-)

kthung - did I forget to mention the 0 maximum aperture? Infinitely fast! hee hee hee not sure why it shows up like that. I think it was f4-5.6, with bounce flash.

Oh, and John, you lens may do "A" setting too with a PKA adapter. Something to look at.

The lens will work on both film and digital cameras. It has an aperture ring and covers a full 35mm field.
