My question would be (as more than a few copies seem to have problems with this) how is the corner sharpness on this lens?

To be honest I wouldn't really be able to tell you. I have rarely used it in the year that I have had it. I currently have no pentax equipment left and I do realize this may make it hard for me to sell.
But if it doesn't sell then I will just head to ebay.
