I think you are mistaken about the autofocus. If it is like mine, it does not have the coupling for the autofocus. It will allow auto metering, though.

I stand corrected. Thank you very much for pointing that out. I briefly put it on a lens this afternoon and saw the focus light come on and I guess my head was in the wrong place. I assumed it's auto focus. But it's not. It's Auto exposure with the "A". Here is a link that shows what it is:

PM replied. This teleconverter is not auto focus. I don't know if Pentax has made many autofocus teleconverters. Maybe somebody can comment on that. Thanks.

Still for sale.

Pentax have not made any autofocus tele converter (yet) except the unique AF converter 1.7, which converts manual focus lenses to autofocus with a 1.7X enlargement.

I've got the SMC 2X-S Rear Converter for sale here, and can confirm that it's as good as it gets. If you wan't a better 2Xconverter, go buy a lens factory with a department for research and development. The -S converters (2X and 1.4X) were developed for shorter lenses (200 mm or shorter), with longer lenses Pentax warn about vignetting. But thanks to the APC-sized sensor, this has become a non-problem. I use mine with my A*600mm lens, and there is no vignetting at all.
